The first major topic covered on this reconstituted website back in February 2016 was the subject that has been a controversy in my town of Blooming Grove New York since it was first proposed January 2016 by the Blooming Grove Town Supervisor.
The topic is the desire of the Town Supervisor to alter the election process for Blooming Grove Town Council members to be from an "at-large System to a "Ward System". This is a significant electoral change, that if the Town Supervisor has his way, will be rushed to a ballot referendum in 2016. I believe the Town Supervisor is rushing it to the ballot so that he can automatically impact the election results of the 2015 election (by reducing the terms of the two councilpersons elected in 2015 from 4 years to 2 years), and I also believe he is rushing it to alter the actual candidate choices available for the voters during the 2017 election, to get his running mates who failed to win in 2015 on the Town Council in 2017 in Wards that will be created just for them.
It is an issue that was NOT discussed at all during our 2015 Blooming Grove election cycle. I personally visited hundreds of homes, and contacted thousands of our town voters, and not a single Blooming Grove resident I visited or contacted through traditional and/or social media sources, ever discussed or brought up the "Ward System" as a topic of concern. One couple did bring it up during an autumn Town Board meeting in 2015 prior to the election. The fact that this "Ward System" issue was not raised once, other than that lightly-attended Town Board meeting, are the reasons I question the motivations of the Blooming Grove Town Supervisor, and his long-time Democrat party activist allies, who are now pushing this topic as a critical issue for this town.
If this topic is of concern to you, and it should be if you are Blooming Grove resident, then you will be happy to know that this Town Councilman has already completed a thorough study of this issue. I thank the many people and other websites that contributed to this study I have completed. To read the details of my analysis, please go to the "Ward Summary" page of this website.
